Da Gema's work is influenced by German expressionists such as Otto Dix, Ludwig Kirchner or Schmidt-Rottluff. Da Gema is inspired by their unrealistic use of colors and nervous coat of paint.
Her favourite painter is the Austrian Egon Schiele. His tortured bodies and melancholy gazes are part of the "beautiful ugliness" da Gema is searching for in her work.
She uses various materials for her paintings: oil and water-colours, but also pastels. She likes mixing up different techniques and supports.
